Hope For a Cure For ALZ will work collaboratively with leading advocacy and research organizations in the field of Alzheimer’s disease.
Our efforts include continued support for genetics research leading to the prevention and/or cure of Alzheimer’s disease through specific genetic discoveries.
Our long-term vision also includes forming an endowed fund, restricted to using royalties generated by the research to support patients who are unable to afford costs associated with future prevention and cure.

Hope For a Cure For ALZ is not a direct patient-care, caregiver-support, or social-service organization. Our present work is centered on funding and implementing scientific research.
This focus allows us to direct our efforts toward a clear objective: generating the evidence needed to pursue new approaches to Alzheimer’s prevention and cure.

Our Story
Hope For a Cure For ALZ is a nonprofit organization committed to providing hope to the millions of people around the world who are victims of Alzheimer’s disease. ALZ was founded by Bob Arnoff after a dear friend and client was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and his wife sought advice about the suicide clause in his life insurance policy. The couple had watched friends and relatives go through the experience of the disease, and they wanted to spare each other and themselves the same inevitable pain, suffering and tragic end. Several weeks later, Bob learned that the man had indeed taken his life, he prayed that someday there would be a cure.
Fifteen years passed, and Bob came across a high school friend who had a rare brain condition called “hyperthymesia” that gave him instantaneous, detailed recall of everything he had heard, touched, tasted, smelled or seen over the past 40 years. Bob wondered if the gene that causes that super-memory condition could be the “missing link” and provide a solution to the still-unsolved Alzheimer’s mystery. ALZ was born.
Alzheimer’s not only affects memory but eventually leads to a systemic breakdown of all the body’s organs. The agony it brings is not limited to those diagnosed with the disease but, instead, destroys the hopes and dreams of all those who love and care for them. Currently, more than seven million adults in the U.S. are diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and, absent a medical breakthrough, the number is expected to grow to more than 13 million in the next 35 years. We firmly believe our clinical research could lead to that elusive medical breakthrough – that exploring the neurological, cognitive, and genetic mechanisms behind the hyperthymesia phenomenon could uncover potential pathways toward a cure for Alzheimer’s.
